The Freeware Guide - Your Guide to the Best Free Software and Freeware Sites! Duplicate Music Files Finder
Title  Duplicate Music Files Finder Size  910 kB Win  all
Duplicate Music Files Finder is a very powerful FREE tool you can use to detect duplicates of your (music) files. The amazing part of the program is it's speed and accuracy. The program can search through GIGS of data in just a few seconds. If duplicates are found you can delete the files you want: just check them and press the right mouse button. You can also play the selected files (if they are music/video files) in your favorite Media Player to see if they really are duplicates or open their containing folder to manually handle the files.
The program offers 4 searching modes: file name comparison, file size comparison, CRC matching and advanced file matching (recommended method for music files). The user can choose to scan only files with certain file extensions. Advanced file matching can be configured using the 'Options' dialog. The search algorithm can be configured to ignore digits, only compare files with same size, use ID3 tags for searching, and ignore text in brackets. Also, songs whose names contain texts defined by the user (for ex: 'track', 'intro', 'outro') can be ignored while searching.
But this is not all you can do with DMFF. The program comes with a module that can be used to quickly rename bad formatted music files. Just load one folder and DMFF will detect the bad formated files and let you choose which of them will the program rename.
Even though DMFF is specialized in detecting duplicates of music files, it does not mean that it can be used only for these file types. You can use the CRC Match or Exact File Name match methods to detect duplicates of other file types.
